From the Chairman
It has always been my privilege to be the Chairman of the Cambria County Republican Committee. I care deeply about this region and am proud to call Cambria County “home”. I was born and raised here, as were my children. My business is headquartered in downtown Johnstown and my commitment to Cambria County remains steadfast.
My pride in our people, our families, and our work ethics could not have been stronger, or so I thought. On November 2, 2004 my faith in our community, and this entire region was brought to new heights as Cambria County overwhelmingly elected President Bush.
I have never seen our Republican Headquarters as busy and bustling as it had been in the months prior to the election. There was an almost magical feel in the air.
For many months we had been laying the groundwork for this Presidential race. I knew I had a core group of dedicated and hard-working volunteers. I knew we were prepared. I did not know that I would see the absolute best of so many people.
They are too numerous to name, but so many people gave up vacations days, time with their families, and tirelessly worked to re-elect President George W. Bush.
More than 500 volunteers from all over the county made this election a huge success. There were over 50,000 phone calls made from our local phone banking efforts-9,000 calls alone were made on Election Day to
get out the vote.
It was an experience I will never forget. The teamwork, the camaraderie, and the spirit that filled Cambria County Republican Headquarters was so electrifying it is difficult to explain. All these individuals banded together to form a team that had one goal - to win this election for our President in Cambria County.
I am proud and pleased to say that all these efforts paid off. We saw a large increase in voter turn out, and we saw our Republican President win our County by over 1400 votes. It was not only an amazing feat - but a historic one as well.
As I reflect on this years election and the new year upon us-I can not help but be filled with grateful thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who helped to make this all possible. I also feel a renewed sense of optimism and hope that the next four years will bring many positive changes to our region, and our county.
My heartfelt thanks to all who made “four more years” a reality. And in the words of our President, “may God bless America”, and in the words of your Chairman, “may God bless Cambria County.”
